In my series Jungle Ladies, I explore female identity through the lens of myths and dreams. The title describes a merging of untamed psyche and social construct. My invented, cartoon-like female figures and hybrid creatures enact a variety of situations in ambiguous landscapes. In particular, I am interested in the ways in which emotional and psychological states can be cogently expressed via distortions of the body, and the dynamic visual stories that the female body can tell. Tales of struggle and resilience are implicit in my female forms, and issues of aging and sexuality are ongoing themes.
